Inuktitut Language Specialist (On-Site)

Location: Full-time on-site presence required in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada

What you will do

• Prepare broadcast material in Inuktitut for television, radio, and online platforms.
• Translate and provide live or recorded voice-over for English and Inuktitut clips and longer news pieces.
• Present the afternoon Inuktitut radio newscast and summaries of international news.
• Prepare and edit bilingual phoner boards, television graphics, and written broadcast copy.
• Present station, weather, promotional, commercial, and other on-air announcements.
• Back up CBC program hosting or operations and participate in community-relations activities.

Requirements

• Excellent Inuktitut skills in reading, speaking, and writing.
• Good English skills in reading, speaking, and writing.
• Deep understanding of Inuit culture, history, language, and cultural practices.
• Previous interpreter or translator experience and/or training.
• Strong teamwork, organizational, and computer skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Criminal record check and other operational background checks may be required.

Nice to have

• Previous broadcasting experience.
