TL;DR
Senior Backend Engineer (AI) (Python/FastAPI/LLM): Building scalable backend services, secure APIs, and AI-powered applications with an accent on reliable LLM integrations, asynchronous processing, and production operations. Focus on designing multi-agent workflows, managing model limits and failures, optimizing performance and cost, and maintaining robust testing, observability, and deployment pipelines.

What you will do
- Build and maintain scalable Python backend services and secure RESTful APIs with FastAPI.
- Own features from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Integrate LLMs and other AI services, developing structured workflows, tool interfaces, streaming responses, and multi-agent systems.
- Design database access, caching, asynchronous processing, authentication, authorization, and reliable error handling.
- Improve testing, logging, metrics, tracing, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, AI, and infrastructure teams, conduct code reviews, document decisions, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend development experience, including 2+ years developing AI-powered applications or services.
- Strong Python and FastAPI expertise, including asynchronous programming, type annotations, Pydantic, dependency injection, and RESTful API design.
- Experience integrating AI APIs or SDKs and understanding LLM challenges such as context management, hallucinations, prompt injection, rate limits, and token costs.
- Hands-on public cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus database experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database.
- Experience with secure API design, external integrations, concurrency control, timeouts, retries, idempotency, rate limiting, testing, Git, CI/CD, and Docker.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
Nice to have
- AWS experience with services such as S3, SageMaker, DynamoDB, ECS, CloudWatch, or Secrets Manager.
- Frontend development experience with Vue or React, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
- Experience with agent frameworks, multi-agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and vector databases.
- Experience deploying local or self-hosted LLMs and working with multimodal AI, including image, audio, or 3D generation.
