Staff Lead Rear Seat Structures Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan, with on-site work at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week. The role is eligible for relocation assistance.

What you will do

• Lead the design development and integration of complex seat structure programs with multiple configurations.
• Coordinate seat structure and seat system integration, technical tradeoffs, performance targets, cost, mass, comfort, and crashworthiness.
• Lead development and maintenance of seat CCC and CMS structures, system integration DFMEAs, virtual validation, tooling readiness, and launch support.
• Coordinate engineering, purchasing, design, supplier, and vehicle program resources to deliver aligned design solutions.
• Lead problem-solving efforts for significant cost, quality, warranty, and repeat-defect issues.
• Coach and mentor component DREs and technical specialists while advancing DFSS, OPEX, lessons learned, and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• Extensive experience developing seat structures and seat systems from early product development through launch.
• Expertise in seat-related subsystems, including structures, foam, trim covers, plastics, head restraints, lumbar systems, occupant detection, airbags, and thermal or haptic systems.
• Detailed knowledge of seat performance requirements, regulations, best practices, and system tradeoffs.
• Ability to lead and coach internal and external resources, communicate complex technical issues clearly, and coordinate global engineering partners.
