Staff Reliability Engineer (Ceph)

What you will do

• Own the reliability, performance, and capacity of production Ceph clusters across multiple locations.
• Diagnose complex issues across disks, server hardware, Linux networking, and Ceph services.
• Lead incident response and postmortems for critical production issues.
• Automate deployments, upgrades, and routine operations using Ansible and scripting.
• Build monitoring and observability with tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Plan platform capacity and growth with Network, Data Center, SRE, and infrastructure support teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as an SRE, Linux engineer, or storage engineer.
• Proven experience running Ceph in production; experience with large-scale clusters is valued.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, its network stack, networking fundamentals, and server hardware.
• Experience with object, block, and file storage concepts.
• Experience with Ansible and scripting in Python or Bash.
• Clear communication in English and willingness to undergo extended SÜ2 security vetting are required.

Nice to have

• Experience operating Ceph clusters of 20 PB or more.
• German language skills.
• Experience following Ceph releases and contributing practices from the community.
