TL;DR
Automation Engineer (PLC/manufacturing): Developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial automation systems in a manufacturing environment with an accent on PLC programming, electrical cabinet design, and equipment reliability. Focus on diagnosing PLC, HMI, SCADA/MES, and PC issues, designing safety-performance circuits, and coordinating testing and preventative maintenance.

Location: Bac Ninh, Vietnam; onsite at Laird Vietnam

What you will do

  • Program, diagnose, and resolve automation software issues involving PLC, HMI, SCADA/MES, and PC systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, control, and instrumentation faults.
  • Design electrical cabinets and safety-performance electrical circuits.
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.
  • Establish preventative maintenance programs, maintain documentation, and support equipment reliability.
  • Prepare safety documentation and recommend methods or equipment that reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Requirements

  • University degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in manufacturing automation.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, including Mitsubishi, Delta, Omron, and Siemens systems.
  • Ability to design safety-performance electrical circuits.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an environment with high safety standards.

Nice to have

  • Manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Experience with servo systems, vision controllers, HMI systems, CCD, and vision camera systems.
  • Lean manufacturing skills.
  • Proficiency in C#, C++, C, and visual programming.
  • Chinese communication skills.
