Captive Insurance Accountant (Insurance Accounting)

Location: Hybrid in Bogotá, Colombia; expected to work from the local office or client sites at least three days per week, with at least one weekly in-person team day.

What you will do

• Manage the day-to-day activities of a portfolio of complex clients, including captive insurance companies.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, supplemental financial information, regulatory filings, and GAAP reports.
• Reconcile cash and investment accounts and prepare bank deposits and cash disbursements.
• Build client relationships, act as the main contact for inquiries, and correspond with other service providers.
• Organize and complete annual audits while maintaining client files and following legal, regulatory, Marsh, and client-specific controls.
• Prepare board and committee materials and participate in board and client meetings.

Requirements

• CPA designation.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience preparing financial statements and working paper files and working with General Ledger.
• Proficient or expert English and the local language; only CVs in English will be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or an equivalent qualification.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent organization, prioritization, attention to detail, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of treasury, business finance, external audit, GAAP, project management, financial analysis and reporting, financial statements, account reconciliations, financial management, accounting systems, financial controlling, insurance accounting and terminology, and accounts payable and receivable.

Nice to have

• Relevant captive insurance experience.
• 3–5 years of experience working with or within insurance companies or in insurance accounting.
