CAD Drafter / Mechanical Designer – SolidWorks

What you will do

• Create and modify 3D parts and assemblies in SolidWorks from sketches, concepts, existing hardware, and engineering direction.
• Design mechanical components and assemblies involving sheet metal, structural components, machined parts, weldments, and fabricated assemblies.
• Produce detailed 2D engineering drawings, bills of materials, revision history, and other design documentation.
• Apply mechanical, thermal, material, tolerance, GD&T, and manufacturing considerations to designs for electronics and DC/DC converter packaging.
• Support concept development, prototyping, testing, design refinement, and engineering change orders.
• Collaborate with mechanical and test engineers, manufacturing teams, machine shops, fabricators, weld shops, and suppliers to resolve design and fabrication issues.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, drafting, or a related field.
• Strong SolidWorks proficiency, especially in 3D part and assembly modeling, with the ability to create and modify CAD designs quickly and accurately.
• Experience producing manufacturing-ready 2D drawings from 3D CAD models.
• Understanding of mechanical assemblies, fasteners, fits, tolerances, basic manufacturing processes, and fabrication methods.
• Advanced or fluent English required.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, drawings, specifications, and verbal design direction while managing changing priorities.

Nice to have

• 2–5 years of professional CAD or mechanical design experience; strong entry-level candidates with substantial SolidWorks experience may also be considered.
• Advanced SolidWorks experience with large assemblies, configurations, sheet metal, weldments, design tables, and drawing detailing.
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM or another product data management system.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5, plus experience with prototyping, production hardware, or direct supplier collaboration.
• Experience in renewable energy, industrial equipment, automotive, robotics, construction equipment, or other large-scale mechanical products.
