Supervisor Forestry Operations (Utility Forestry)

Location: Crown Point, Indiana; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $96,600–$144,900 per year

What you will do

• Lead contracted tree crews and utility work planners supporting electric and gas vegetation management, preventive maintenance, construction, and asset improvement projects.
• Develop and oversee annual work plans, budgets, schedules, project extensions, expenditures, invoicing, quality control, and cost effectiveness across concurrent projects.
• Manage suppliers, crewing, equipment, permits, planned outages, contractor performance, and field inspections across the assigned service territory.
• Provide safety leadership, training, site audits, and coaching on utility forestry practices, line clearance specifications, and contract compliance.
• Respond to storms and other emergencies within incident command and storm recovery procedures, including extended hours and work across geographic boundaries.
• Coordinate compliance reporting, procurement specifications, bid documents, and contract language for vegetation management and utility work planning programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 4+ years of expert utility forestry experience with progressive responsibility.
• Knowledge of arboriculture, tree biology, pruning, herbicide and pesticide applications, wildfire prevention, and hazardous tree assessment.
• Working knowledge of electric and gas transmission and distribution systems, OSHA and ANSI utility practices, and FERC, NERC, and IURC requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, make sound emergency decisions, read maps and engineering drawings, and use Microsoft and ESRI applications.
• Valid driver’s license and pesticide applicator state licensure within 180 days.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a business-related field.
• International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist credential.
