TL;DR
Sr Director, Hardware Engineering - Sydney (Networking Hardware): Leading the Sydney hardware organization in designing and delivering high-bandwidth Ethernet switches and data center networking platforms with an accent on high-speed electrical design, signal integrity, FPGA integration, and manufacturability. Focus on scaling engineering teams, establishing hardware labs, translating customer requirements into system architectures, and driving products from first-silicon design through production and deployment.
Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia. Candidates must have Australian citizenship, Australian permanent residency, or another demonstrable legal entitlement to work in Australia for the duration of employment.

What you will do
- Lead and grow the Sydney hardware engineering organization across hardware, firmware, signal integrity, diagnostics, and FPGA engineering.
- Direct the design and verification of high-density, high-bandwidth Ethernet switches and networking platforms.
- Define system architectures and execution plans based on customer, product management, and market requirements.
- Establish Sydney hardware laboratories, including site requirements, equipment, power planning, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Guide complex hardware bring-up, cross-functional problem solving, schematic and board reviews, and product escalations.
- Drive vendor roadmaps, product quality, first-pass manufacturing yields, and delivery from concept through production.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics.
- 10+ years of relevant networking or systems hardware design experience, including 4+ years of management experience.
- Experience leading hardware engineering teams across multiple simultaneous projects.
- Proficiency with high-layer-count PCBs, high-speed design, Ethernet, SMBus, SPI, PCIe, PoE, PTP, and MDIO.
- Experience with DFM, contract manufacturers, embedded x86/ARM systems, FPGA design, high-speed buses, and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity concepts and tools, including impedance, PDN, differential routing, insertion loss, S-parameters, TDR, and VNA.
