Head of Forecasting and Optimization

Location: Prague, Czech Republic; hybrid work with three days in the office and two days working from home

What you will do

• Own business outcomes for forecasting and optimization, including availability, shrink, fulfillment costs, working capital, and delivery performance.
• Set the roadmap for automating decisions across purchasing, fulfillment center planning, workforce scheduling, promotions, markdowns, and demand shaping.
• Define standards for problem framing, method selection, production MVPs, backtesting, business-metric evaluation, and reliability monitoring.
• Unify Forecasting and Optimization into one high-performing function and lead hiring, development, and technical execution.
• Partner with operations managers, cell leads, product owners, and engineering leads to align metrics and integrate models into production systems.
• Report directly to the Group CTO and shape technical strategy and execution.

Requirements

• 8+ years applying machine learning, forecasting, or operations research to operational or commercial problems with measurable business results.
• Production experience with time-series or probabilistic forecasting and mathematical optimization, including LP, MIP, CP, heuristics, or simulation.
• Fluency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in production pipelines, monitoring, and backtesting.
• Experience with forecasting stacks or solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or OR-Tools.
• Experience working directly with supply chain, warehouse, or logistics operations and translating model mechanics into executive-level business trade-offs.
• Experience leading technical teams, hiring talent, developing engineers, and using modern AI coding agents in daily work.

Nice to have

• Experience in e-commerce, grocery, supply chain, or logistics at scale.
• Experience building a forecasting, optimization, or decision-science function from an early stage.
• Experience feeding probabilistic forecasts into optimization models.
• Experience with GCP, Snowflake, BigQuery, ZenML, or Vertex AI.
