Senior Data Platform Engineer

Location: Fully remote, candidates must be based in the EU

What you will do

• Drive development of the self-service data platform covering ingestion, storage, transformation, and data access.
• Migrate from legacy data infrastructure to the new platform and decommission the old platform.
• Provide batch and streaming capabilities and build foundations for data quality, freshness, lineage, monitoring, and alerting.
• Manage infrastructure as code through CI/CD and GitOps pipelines.
• Implement data governance including retention, access control, pseudonymisation, audit trails, and GDPR compliance.
• Improve performance, cost efficiency, resiliency, documentation, collaboration, and incident response across Platform, backend, mobile, and analytics teams.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience as a Data Platform Engineer or Data Engineer.
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong Python skills and experience writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, data services, pipeline orchestration, data transformation frameworks, and Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Hands-on streaming experience, ideally with Kafka, including ordering, delivery guarantees, and schema evolution.
• Must be based in the EU; excellent English communication skills and awareness of GDPR obligations are required.

Nice to have

• Kubernetes and container orchestration experience.
• Production experience with open table formats such as Iceberg or LakeHouse architecture.
• Experience supporting ML or AI workloads, including feature pipelines, training data, or model monitoring.
• Experience in regulated, financial, or mobility domains where correctness must be auditable.
• Experience making a data platform self-service for other engineers and analysts.

Hiring process

• Approximately 45-minute screening interview with the People Team.
• 90-minute technical screening and problem-solving interview.
• Platform Engineering interview followed by a Data Engineering interview, each lasting 60 minutes.
