Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, United States

Base salary: $176,000–$253,000 annually, depending on geographic zone.

What you will do

• Partner with product, clinical, and cross-functional teams to turn healthcare product vision into shipped experiences.
• Own end-to-end architecture and technical direction for new member- and care team-facing products.
• Make pragmatic technical decisions across languages, frameworks, services, and system boundaries.
• Set the quality bar through clean, tested, scalable, and reliable code.
• Mentor engineers, remove ambiguity, and help the team deliver quickly.
• Define 6–12 month technical direction and identify high-value engineering opportunities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience writing readable, tested, and efficient code.
• Strong experience with at least one modern backend language and the ability to work across the stack.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, and scalable, maintainable, secure APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, deployment tools, logging, monitoring, telemetry, and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with LLMs, GenAI best practices, and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to work directly with stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, RDS, PostgreSQL, SQS, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, React, or other modern engineering tools.
• Interest in learning new technologies, languages, workflows, and engineering philosophies.
