Location: 140 Grey St, South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; access to shared desk space in the Conservatorium’s Research Hub is provided.
Funding: $40,000 annual stipend plus up to $10,000 for approved research-related expenses. The stipend is not salary and the Fellowship is not an offer of employment.

What you will do
- Undertake a clearly defined research project in musicology.
- Contribute to the scholarly life of the Conservatorium through research engagement activities.
- Produce research outcomes aligned with the objectives of the Fellowship.
- Complete reasonable reporting requirements associated with the award.
- Acknowledge the Fellowship in resulting publications and scholarly outputs.
Requirements
- Hold a doctoral qualification relevant to musicology.
- Identify primarily as a musicologist or ethnomusicologist.
- Demonstrate a strong research track record appropriate to career stage.
- Submit a high-quality research proposal aligned with the Fellowship objectives.
- Show familiarity with critical and interdisciplinary transformations in contemporary musicology.
- Demonstrate the capacity to complete the proposed project within one academic year.
Nice to have
- Experience with close analysis, ethnographic research, archival and historiographical work, or interdisciplinary theoretical frameworks.
- Research engaging with sound, bodies, technology, power, identity, affect, disability studies, postcolonial thought, or media studies.
