What you will do
- Design, assemble, operate, test, modify, and ruggedise experimental prototypes for field deployment.
- Prepare and deploy atom-interferometry-based quantum gravimeters for field trials, including travel and on-location work.
- Diagnose and fix complex mechanical, optical, electrical, and scientific hardware issues in laboratory and field environments.
- Implement new sensing techniques and control schemes developed through internal research.
- Collaborate with quantum scientists, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers to improve hardware concepts.
Requirements
- PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience designing, operating, calibrating, optimising, packaging, testing, and validating complex prototypes.
- Experience troubleshooting scientific, mechanical, optical, and electrical systems in laboratory and field settings.
- Strong experimental problem-solving skills and the ability to handle high-stakes precision hardware.
- Experience working and collaborating in an academic or industrial research environment.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with lasers, optical systems, vacuum systems, or cold atoms.
- Experience with low-noise precision measurement or advanced metrology.
- Hardware programming experience, including Python.
