Android Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Toronto, Canada — hybrid, with up to three days per week in the office and the remaining days remotely

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, and release native Android features in Kotlin for the Ready1 mobile incident-response product.
• Build Jetpack Compose interfaces and migrate legacy RecyclerView and XML components.
• Implement secure authentication and session flows with MSAL, Azure AD B2C, biometrics, and passkeys.
• Integrate REST APIs and real-time communication using Retrofit, OkHttp, SignalR, WebSockets, and Azure Communication Services.
• Improve application architecture with Hilt, ViewModels, repositories, use cases, and clear feature packages.
• Support testing, Google Play releases, crash and log triage, and collaboration with product, design, QA, backend, iOS, and security teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience shipping production Android applications.
• Strong Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, coroutines, Flow, ViewModel, Navigation, and Gradle experience.
• Experience integrating REST and JSON APIs, handling authentication, token refresh, unreliable networks, and multi-region routing.
• Experience with unit testing, Android UI testing, Git, pull requests, code review, and continuous integration.
• Practical understanding of mobile security, including tokens, secrets, permissions, local data, logging, and privacy.
• Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to deliver a feature from ambiguity through a supportable release.

Nice to have

• Experience with OAuth/OIDC, passkeys, WebAuthn, enterprise identity providers, Hilt, or Dagger.
• Experience with SignalR, WebSockets, VoIP, video technologies, Azure Communication Services, or WebRTC.
• Experience with multi-environment builds, Play App Signing, staged rollouts, Crashlytics, structured logging, and production incident triage.
• Background in cybersecurity, security operations, incident-response tools, regulated enterprise software, accessibility, internationalization, or design systems.
• Experience with native NDK or C++ modules and cross-platform Android/iOS product decisions.
