Engineering Manager - Platform

What you will do

• Lead, coach, support, hire, onboard, and develop a team of six backend and DevOps engineers.
• Build and communicate a business-driven platform roadmap with Product and engineering stakeholders.
• Guide application decomposition, deployment modernization, architectural decisions, and platform technical direction.
• Improve build and test pipelines, core service stability, performance, and delivery predictability.
• Establish request intake and ownership boundaries for feature teams, Product, QA, and Support.
• Explain platform constraints, dependencies, and business impact to the wider organization.

Requirements

• Experience leading software engineers in a product company.
• Strong background in backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
• Ability to define technical direction and explain it to non-engineering stakeholders.
• Comfort with architecture, deployment, and performance discussions with senior engineers.
• Ability to balance technical depth with people leadership.
• Clear, pragmatic written and spoken English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience leading platform, developer experience, or enablement teams.
• Familiarity with Node.js, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD systems.
• Experience with on-premises and cloud delivery models.
• Experience with application modernization, monolith decomposition, or platform products.
• Experience working closely with Product Managers.
