Software Engineer - Payments (Java / Spring Boot) (Fintech): Building and operating large-scale, mission-critical payment platforms for merchants worldwide with an accent on Java backend development, Oracle databases, containerized infrastructure, and DevOps ownership. Focus on designing robust services, automating delivery with CI/CD and Ansible, and maintaining system reliability through 24/7 on-call support.
Location: Hybrid role based in Zurich, Switzerland; a valid Swiss work permit is required.

What you will do
- Build and evolve a large-scale, business-critical platform supporting electronic payments for merchants worldwide.
- Develop backend solutions with Java and Spring Boot.
- Own services across analysis, design, implementation, functional testing, deployment, operation, and support within an agile DevOps team.
- Work with Oracle databases using SQL and PL/SQL.
- Operate containerized and bare-metal infrastructure, using Podman and related technologies.
- Participate in CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and the 24/7 on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Professional experience contributing to real-world software systems.
- Working knowledge of Java and Spring Boot, or strong willingness to develop these skills.
- Experience with database development, ideally Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
- Familiarity with containers, bare-metal environments, Git, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Very good written and spoken German and English, a valid Swiss work permit, and willingness to perform 24/7 on-call duty are required.
