Data QA Automation Engineer (Databricks)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain automated data testing frameworks covering SQL Server, SSIS, dbt, Fivetran, Python ingestion, and Databricks pipelines.
• Implement automated accuracy, latency, performance, and security quality gates in CI/CD pipelines.
• Build regression suites, source-to-target reconciliation, schema and row-count checks, data profiling, anomaly detection, and test data generation utilities.
• Integrate tests with Azure DevOps and Git workflows, and manage execution reporting, dashboards, coverage, and automation ROI.
• Design Delta Lake validation for Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, including schema enforcement, time travel, and Unity Catalog governance checks.
• Partner with QA Leads and engineers, convert manual test cases to automated checks, and mentor others on automation standards and code review.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in test automation or data engineering with hands-on data pipeline testing.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with the ability to write production-quality test code.
• Experience with data testing or quality frameworks such as pytest, Great Expectations, dbt tests, or Soda, including reusable test libraries.
• Experience integrating automated tests with Azure DevOps Pipelines or an equivalent CI/CD platform and Git-based workflows.
• Working knowledge of ETL/ELT patterns and data warehouse concepts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field; background screening, credit check, drug screening, and U.S. employment eligibility verification are required for offers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows or Jobs, Asset Bundles, or other Big Data/Spark platforms.
• Experience with performance and load testing of data pipelines.
• Experience with data observability or anomaly detection tools.
• Databricks certification.
• Banking or financial services industry experience.
