Refining and Petrochemical Process Optimization Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in Mexico; travel to client sites in the United States is required, up to 25%

What you will do

• Scope optimization opportunities with customers, defining objectives, constraints, and value cases.
• Lead the technical delivery of implementation projects and manage relationships with customer engineers.
• Analyze plant time-series data, assess data quality, and determine modeling feasibility.
• Build and evaluate inferential models, process response models, and closed-loop optimizers.
• Commission models on site, train operators and engineers, and monitor performance through customer sign-off and after go-live.
• Configure plant data connections, integrations with control systems, automations, documentation, and training materials while sharing field insights with Product and R&D.

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering experience in refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, NGL, or another continuous-process industry.
• BSc in Chemical Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Process engineering or process control background with knowledge of APC, gains, constraints, and objective functions.
• Hands-on experience analyzing plant time-series data and visualizing large datasets.
• Client-facing or operations-support experience with strong communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% to client sites in the United States.

Nice to have

• Operating plant, unit process engineering, control engineering, or operations-support experience.
• Planning and economics experience, including refinery LP models.
• Experience with APC, real-time optimization, project implementation, or industrial consulting.
• Scripting or data science experience, including Python, and familiarity with DCS, process historians, or OPC.
• Experience applying AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics to industrial processes.
