Site Reliability Engineer (AI/Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid with onsite work at least three days per week

Salary: $209,700–$238,250 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Build and improve tooling, automation, observability, and incident-management systems for vehicle software reliability.
• Partner with field engineers, software teams, and operations to diagnose reliability issues and improve system performance.
• Debug Linux, low-level systems, logs, metrics, traces, vehicle data, and production data.
• Develop reliability improvements that reduce manual intervention and accelerate issue detection, triage, and recovery.
• Support vehicle-centric operations, including safety-operator tooling and customer and partner programmes.

Requirements

• Write production-quality code in Python, C++, or Rust.
• Debug Linux and systems-level issues, trace failures, and identify root causes in complex environments.
• Experience with CI/CD, containerisation, networking, distributed systems, databases, and observability or incident-management tooling.
• Independently diagnose complex production or operational systems through resolution.
• Communicate effectively across engineering, operations, and field teams.
• Be able to work onsite in Sunnyvale at least three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, embedded systems, large-scale telemetry, or safety-critical environments.

Hiring process

• Initial recruiter call lasting approximately 30 minutes.
• Hiring-manager competency interview with an abridged technical assessment.
• Technical interviews covering programming, system design, and SRE domain knowledge, followed by a final mission and values interview with an onsite visit and demo ride.
