Senior Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Bogotá, Colombia; hybrid workplace

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team, including career development and performance management.
• Build the team through structured recruiting, assessment, and retention practices.
• Set standards for architecture, code quality, testing, security, observability, and engineering practices.
• Drive service availability and resilience through incident management, on-call practices, post-incident reviews, and reliability improvements.
• Shape roadmaps, priorities, projects, and OKRs while balancing feature delivery, technical debt, infrastructure investment, and system health.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, Finance, payment processors, card issuers, and Engineering teams to deliver secure financial infrastructure across multiple markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, platform engineering, or a related technical field, including 4+ years in engineering management.
• Experience building, operating, and scaling highly available, reliable, and secure systems.
• Strong backend engineering experience with SQL, databases, distributed systems, networking, security, observability, and production operations.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, cloud infrastructure, Docker, Kubernetes, and YAML-based configuration; AWS experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
• Familiarity with payment processors, disbursements, merchant integrations, financial reconciliation, or banking partnerships.
• Experience with credit card issuance, fulfillment, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with PHP, Django, or Kotlin.
