Senior Data Center Commissioning Specialist – Electrical

Location: Arlington, Virginia, with travel up to 95% to active data center job sites nationwide. U.S. Citizenship is strictly required for security clearance and facility access.

Salary: $124,800–$166,400 annually.

What you will do

• Lead and document Level 4 component/system functional testing and Level 5 integrated systems and operational readiness testing.
• Oversee and support contractor L0–L3 construction checkouts, pre-functional verification, quality control, and installation reviews.
• Direct the safe energization, testing, and start-up of switchgear, transformers, UPS units, generators, and power quality meters.
• Track commissioning deficiencies and punch-list items through resolution and handover to operations.
• Interface with clients, project owners, stakeholders, and electrical contractors as the primary technical representative.
• Prepare commissioning scripts, logs, and final turnover reports against owner project requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and progressive field experience.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in electrical commissioning across utility infrastructure, life safety, electrical power systems, low-voltage systems, and facility operations.
• At least 2–3 years of hands-on data center experience documenting L2/L3 construction activities and leading L4/L5 functional testing.
• Working knowledge of NFPA, NETA, and NICET testing protocols and code requirements, with a solid understanding of commercial and mission-critical construction.
• U.S. Citizenship, successful completion of a comprehensive background check, and availability to travel up to 95% nationwide are required.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, leadership, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.

Nice to have

• BCxA, CxA, or equivalent industry commissioning certification.
• NFPA 70E, IR Thermography Level 1 or Level 2, AWS/L4 lead, or OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Experience with power quality meters and advanced harmonic and load transient analysis.
