Staff Security Software Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Mountain View, CA; San Francisco, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; or Seattle, WA. Hybrid work is required, with at least 3 days per week in the office and up to 5 days depending on operational needs.

Salary: $189,000–$303,000 per year for roles based in San Francisco, Mountain View, and Seattle; $171,000–$273,000 per year for roles based in Pittsburgh. Annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits are also available.

What you will do

• Design and architect systems that support security goals and the autonomous vehicle safety case.
• Lead hands-on implementation of vehicle security systems.
• Integrate security capabilities and components with partner teams, vehicle platform partners, and OEMs.
• Contribute to security architecture reviews, threat modeling, security code reviews, and release security.
• Design and develop security frameworks and technologies for the autonomous vehicle platform and connected cloud services.
• Guide and mentor security and non-security engineers while organizing projects and delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 8 years of software engineering development experience and at least 2 years in a security-specific or security-adjacent industry.
• Production-quality programming experience in C++ and Golang.
• Experience with software architecture, unit and integration testing, debugging across module boundaries, and translating requirements into code.
• Knowledge of cryptographic protocols, infrastructure security, and network security.
• Ability to lead teams, organize projects, communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, and work cross-functionally.

Nice to have

• Experience evaluating software and service security.
• Embedded firmware and hardware security experience, preferably in robotics or automotive.
• Experience with fuzzers, AWS cloud security, and infrastructure as code.
• Knowledge of Trusted Platform Modules, HSMs, and trusted boot.
• Open-source contributions, published research, or security conference presentations.
