Lead Machine Learning Engineer (Computer Vision)

Location: Centreville, Virginia, United States; office-based role. U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $158,000–$241,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of computer vision and machine learning algorithms for detection, classification, localization, and tracking of objects.
• Develop solutions for stationary and mobile sensor platforms using deep convolutional neural networks, visual transformers, optimization, and visual tracking.
• Implement ML algorithms and validate designs through experiments, testing, evaluation, and verification.
• Analyze trained-model errors and design strategies to improve algorithm performance.
• Select datasets and data representations, supervise data acquisition, and advise on ML infrastructure and DevOps processes.
• Coordinate technical activities, manage hardware, data, and personnel resources, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline, with relevant machine learning or computer vision experience.
• At least 10–12 years of relevant experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Experience with Python or C/C++, PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas, OpenCV, Linux, and ONNX.
• Ability to design, implement, troubleshoot, and analyze complex systems and large datasets.
• U.S. citizenship is required, along with an active Secret DoD clearance and the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
• Access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information requires qualification as a U.S. person or approval for an export license.

Nice to have

• Experience with Department of War and Intelligence Community organizations on advanced technology, research, or AI/ML initiatives.
• Experience working in classified spaces.
• Experience selecting hardware for specific machine learning applications.
