Hardware Product Safety and Compliance Engineer III (Connected Fitness)

Location: Hybrid role based in Woodinville, Washington or New York City, New York, United States

Base salary: $109,100–$129,050 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead complex product safety investigations using 8D, root-cause analysis, and CAPA methodologies.
• Manage executive and member-facing safety escalation triage with cross-functional teams.
• Identify and mitigate safety risks throughout product development, production changes, and post-launch support.
• Review construction safety assessments, FMEA, fault tree analyses, and engineering changes.
• Build SQL and Tableau data tools and dashboards to analyze safety trends and compliance metrics.
• Develop certification plans, safety documentation, internal SOPs, and regulatory intelligence while mentoring engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in product safety, regulatory compliance, or quality engineering.
• Advanced experience with 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone, root-cause analysis, and corrective action workflows.
• Experience driving global product certifications through laboratories such as TÜV, Intertek, UL, and CSA.
• Knowledge of international mechanical and electrical safety standards, including IEC 60335, IEC 62368-1, ASTM, and EN 957/ISO 20957.
• Experience with data and analytics tools such as SQL, Looker, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau, plus US and international regulatory frameworks including CPSC and FCC.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in engineering or a related field.
• Experience with consumer electronics, smart appliances, connected fitness, or hardware products.
• Six Sigma or ISO 9001 auditor training.
• Knowledge of battery safety standards such as IEC 62133 and UN 38.3.
