Machine Learning Team Lead (Speech AI)

Location: Cambridge, England, United Kingdom; hybrid with 2–3 designated office days each week

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Machine Learning engineers through coaching and professional development.
• Provide technical oversight for end-to-end Machine Learning development and ensure solutions are robust and scalable.
• Guide the adoption of software engineering best practices and ML testing practices.
• Plan work, allocate resources, and collaborate cross-functionally to align initiatives with business objectives.
• Drive the technical delivery of speech recognition models from development through production deployment.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience guiding and mentoring Machine Learning engineers.
• Strong understanding of modern Machine Learning stacks, including contemporary transformer architectures, GQA, and KV-caching.
• Expertise in distributed training and experience optimizing model inference through techniques such as dynamic batching, flash attention, and speculative decoding.
• Proven track record of developing and deploying models at scale.
• Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, cloud platforms, software engineering practices, and ML testing frameworks.
