Platform Administrator (Databricks)

Location: Remote from Montenegro

What you will do

• Manage development, QA, and production Databricks workspaces.
• Configure cluster policies, governance, compliance controls, and Unity Catalog objects.
• Monitor and debug failed or long-running jobs using Databricks system tables.
• Troubleshoot cluster crashes, driver out-of-memory errors, executor failures, memory leaks, Python and Spark errors, and dependency conflicts.
• Support data engineers with cluster and job configuration, notebook errors, permissions, and platform best practices.
• Maintain Confluence documentation covering platform rules and troubleshooting guides.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of relevant experience in implementation, integration, or technical support.
• Experience with Databricks jobs and environments, Linux, Bash, SQL, Python scripting, and REST APIs or SDKs.
• Strong experience with AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, secrets management, and SQS.
• Understanding of Delta Lake, Parquet, Hive, cluster types, and node families.
• Spoken English at Intermediate level or higher.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks REST API or SDK, schema evolution, time travel, vacuum, compaction, and Z-Ordering.
• Experience debugging corrupted Delta tables and understanding ACID implementation on object storage.
• Knowledge of Spark, Kafka or similar technologies, Terraform, GitLab CI, platform cost monitoring, and enterprise data platforms.
