TL;DR
Senior Backend Engineer - Structured Data (Python/AWS): Building scalable backend systems, high-throughput ETL/ELT pipelines, REST and MCP APIs, and cloud infrastructure for AI-driven financial data solutions with an accent on structured data processing, workflow orchestration, and production observability. Focus on designing high-concurrency services, deploying Lambda and Docker/ECS workloads, and ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
Location: Marbella, Spain; hybrid arrangement with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote after onboarding. European legal working status is required.

What you will do
- Architect, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems for data-driven applications.
- Design and scale ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and semi-structured data, ensuring reliable ingestion, processing, and data integrity.
- Automate complex data and application lifecycles using orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow and AWS Step Functions.
- Build and maintain high-concurrency REST and MCP APIs connecting data layers with front-facing applications.
- Design and deploy AWS infrastructure using serverless and containerized technologies, including Lambda, Docker, and ECS.
- Implement testing, performance tuning, version control, and Datadog-based production observability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience at a senior level.
- Strong Python skills and proven experience developing REST APIs and production data pipelines.
- Experience with AWS, relational and NoSQL databases, cloud data warehouses, Bash, Docker, and Git.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly in English, verbally and in writing.
- European legal working status is required.
Nice to have
- Experience developing Model Context Protocol APIs.
- Experience with Snowflake and serverless APIs using AWS Lambda and API Gateway.
