What you will do
- Maintain and refine methodologies and statistical tools for food security and nutrition indicators, including FIES, PoU, and PUA.
- Develop analytical models and scoring strategies using Item Response Theory to support cross-country comparability and stable measurement over time.
- Collect, validate, analyse, and disseminate national food security datasets and contribute to STAT, SWS, UNSD, and related platforms.
- Review survey sampling frames, post-stratification weights, data disaggregation, and variance calculations.
- Contribute to statistical reports, scientific papers, and the State of Food Insecurity and Nutrition in the World report.
- Provide technical assistance, capacity development, training, and software guidance to national statistical offices and international partners.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent in statistics, mathematics, economics, agricultural economics, or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant experience compiling and analysing food and agricultural statistics, with a focus on methodological development and food security statistics.
- Working knowledge of English at proficiency level C and intermediate knowledge at level B of another official language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish.
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods, survey design and sampling, inference, regression, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, and nonlinear models.
- Experience with data-processing and statistical software such as R, Stata, SPSS, or SAS, plus strong statistical programming skills.
- Familiarity with Item Response Theory and the ability to analyse complex statistical issues.
