Software Engineer (Frontend, React)

Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; the role is also advertised with Philippines-based compensation and benefits. Hybrid work arrangements are indicated.

Salary: AUD 88,406–117,875 annually in Australia; PHP 78,333–104,500 per month in the Philippines.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain modern web applications using JavaScript, React, and Next.js.
• Build responsive and accessible interfaces with HTML and CSS for a global weather website serving millions of users.
• Integrate frontend applications with REST APIs and backend services.
• Investigate defects, performance issues, and production problems.
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-tested code, and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, product, and UX teams on testing, releases, and production deployments.

Requirements

• Strong experience with JavaScript and modern frontend development.
• Good working knowledge of React and familiarity with Next.js, including client-side and server-side rendering.
• Strong understanding of CSS, responsive design, modern web layouts, browser behavior, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience integrating REST APIs or similar backend services.
• Experience with Git-based workflows and pull requests.
• Ability to independently deliver moderately complex features and solve debugging and performance problems in a collaborative team.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with high-traffic consumer-facing applications.
• Knowledge of web monitoring, analytics, performance optimization, accessibility, and SEO best practices.
