TL;DR
Datacenter & Agentic AI Workload Performance Analysis Engineer (RISC-V): Analyzing modern datacenter and agentic AI workloads on next-generation RISC-V CPUs with an accent on workload characterization, CPU performance modeling, and hardware/software co-design. Focus on reducing production workloads into representative traces, correlating simulation with hardware behavior, and identifying architectural improvements across pipelines, memory hierarchies, vector extensions, and systems software.

Location: Remote, based out of North America; the listed location is Santa Clara, California, United States. Access to U.S. export-controlled technology requires eligibility under applicable U.S. export laws.

Compensation: $100,000–$500,000, including base and variable compensation targets.

Company

Tenstorrent develops high-performance AI platforms combining RISC-V CPUs, software models, compilers, networking, and semiconductor technology.

What you will do

  • Analyze modern datacenter and agentic AI workloads on next-generation RISC-V CPUs.
  • Bring real-world applications to RISC-V platforms and characterize their performance behavior.
  • Use profiling, simulation, and workload reduction to identify CPU bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.
  • Correlate simulation results with hardware behavior and create representative workloads and traces for architectural exploration.
  • Translate workload insights into recommendations for CPU architecture, performance, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with CPU architects, RTL designers, software engineers, compiler teams, and systems engineers.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with research or industry experience in workload characterization, benchmark development, performance analysis, or simulation.
  • Deep understanding of CPU architecture and RISC-V, including superscalar pipelines, speculative execution, vector/SIMD extensions, memory hierarchies, and performance tradeoffs.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux perf, strace, QEMU, or CPU microarchitecture simulators.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, Bash/Shell, and assembly or intrinsic programming.
  • Understanding of operating systems, virtualization, compilers, runtimes, and GNU/RISC-V software ecosystems.
  • Strong technical communication and collaboration skills across hardware and software disciplines.

Nice to have

  • Experience analyzing production datacenter or agentic AI workloads.
  • Experience connecting workload characterization and performance modeling to RTL, emulation, or silicon.

Culture & Benefits

  • Remote work based out of North America.
  • Competitive compensation package and benefits.
  • Collaborative environment focused on curiosity and solving complex technical problems.
  • Opportunity to work across CPU architecture, software, compilers, AI workloads, and semiconductor technology.
  • Employment is subject to eligibility for access to U.S. export-controlled technology.
