Manufacturing Engineer II (Paint and TPS)

Salary: $104,000–$156,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Own the application of paint and thermal protection system materials from design release through installation on the Terran R launch vehicle.
• Develop efficient, scalable build flows and support first-build activities through design integration, assembly sequencing, and mBOM development.
• Create build work orders and author manufacturing specifications.
• Support shop-floor and production personnel by resolving manufacturing issues and providing feedback to engineering.
• Monitor large-scale part movements and communicate clear safety direction.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Build Reliability, Supply Chain, and external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical, mechanical, or another engineering discipline with 2+ years of related progressive experience.
• Working experience with 2D and 3D design or drafting according to ASME Y14.5M; NX experience is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with engineering and manufacturing groups on process constraints and manufacturability.
• Experience with at least two relevant processes, such as adhesive bonding, soft goods manufacturing, coating, machining, mechanical fastening and torquing, trim and drill, composites manufacturing, critical lifting, tool design, or work-center development.
• Ability to perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to prioritize and execute work in a high-pressure environment.

• Successful new product introduction experience with aerospace hardware or processes.
• Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing execution and quality management systems.
• Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
