Research Engineer (AI)

hirify.global is an applied AI lab building a large-scale search engine with web crawling infrastructure, embedding models, and high-performance vector databases.

What you will do

• Improve parsing for web pages that are currently handled poorly and measure the resulting improvements.
• Build models that assess page quality, credibility, misinformation, and whether content is written for readers or search crawlers.
• Design semantic deduplication to distinguish genuinely different documents from duplicate content.
• Build accurate, cost-efficient classification and extraction systems that operate across the entire web.
• Design supervision for problems without existing labels and evaluate whether the resulting objectives are learnable.
• Trace poor search results to the page-level predictions that caused them and fix the underlying models.

Requirements

• Graduate-level machine learning experience through a master’s or PhD with at least two years of relevant experience, or an exceptionally strong undergraduate background.
• Ability to build a transformer from scratch in PyTorch and train models that are inexpensive enough to run at scale.
• Experience building large-scale datasets and developing effective supervision through data.
• Comfort working on problems where defining the ground truth is part of the role.
• Interest in identifying and evaluating high-quality knowledge.
