Senior Bioinformatics Scientist (Genomics)

Location: Europe or South Africa; hybrid or remote working

Base salary: GBP 44,000–66,000 per year in the United Kingdom. Additional variable cash programs and eligible equity may apply.

What you will do

• Design and implement computational and statistical methods for genomic data analysis.
• Build high-performance production software focused on speed, scalability, and accuracy.
• Analyze complex sequencing datasets for product and workflow development.
• Advance the DRAGEN platform across germline, somatic, DNA, RNA, structural variant, CNV, and targeted sequencing applications.
• Collaborate with software engineering, FPGA, quality, clinical genomics, product, customer, and research teams.
• Present scientific findings and contribute to publications, technical documentation, and thought leadership.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience developing bioinformatics methods and algorithms for next-generation sequencing data.
• Expertise in secondary analysis workflows, including mapping, alignment, variant calling, and genomic interpretation.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or equivalent high-performance programming languages.
• Experience with large-scale genomic datasets and production software environments.
• Knowledge of cancer genomics, rare disease analysis, population genetics, transcriptomics, or multi-omics research.
