TL;DR
Lead Software Engineer (React/TypeScript): Architecting and evolving a shared media player library and QC player stack for Disney’s digital and streaming products with an accent on API design, layering streaming concerns, backward compatibility, and operator workflows. Focus on implementing playback and control APIs, improving deployment quality and telemetry, and solving complex concurrency, testing, and release challenges.

What you will do
- Own the architecture, API surface, versioning strategy, and evolution of a shared player library.
- Lead the separation of streaming-protocol concerns from player internals through clean APIs and layering.
- Design hooks and data APIs that enable consuming teams to build their own control layouts.
- Implement and maintain QC player features used by operator teams across live and video-on-demand workflows.
- Establish engineering standards for testing, code and design reviews, deployment quality, telemetry, and real-user monitoring.
- Mentor engineers, collaborate with QC operators, unblock content testing and releases, and provide rotational on-call support.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and delivering production-grade software applications.
- Advanced English and clear communication with engineering and non-engineering partners.
- Strong React 18+ and TypeScript experience, including hands-on coding and debugging in unfamiliar codebases.
- Experience integrating media players into web applications and understanding asynchronous programming and concurrency.
- Experience designing or maintaining libraries consumed by other teams, including versioning, backward compatibility, and breaking-change management.
- Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, containerized build and deployment tooling, and root-cause analysis.
