Team Lead - Unpressurised Composite Structures (Aerospace)

Location: Auckland, New Zealand; onsite role in a New Zealand office.

What you will do

• Lead the delivery of Neutron mechanical systems across conceptual and critical design, development testing, qualification, integration, and operational support.
• Manage engineering projects, including schedules, budgets, resources, and technical risks.
• Coordinate design, test, analysis, and manufacturing engineers to mature concepts, select materials, and define practical build processes.
• Collaborate with supply chain, quality, production, Fluids, Avionics, and Propulsion teams to prioritize program activities.
• Manage, mentor, and support direct reports.
• Identify and solve technical challenges so projects can progress at pace.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
• At least 5 years of experience in a high-performance industry such as aerospace, aviation, automotive, or marine.
• Experience leading teams to deliver engineering projects from conception through operation.
• Experience with composite materials or other mechanical systems, including moving mechanical assemblies, pressure vessels, aerodynamic control, fluid systems, or thermal protection systems.
• Ability to work to deadlines in a high-pressure environment and build strong working relationships.
• For New Zealand roles, nationality and background checks apply because access to ITAR-regulated equipment and data is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management software such as Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar.
