Senior Director, Laboratory Operations (Clinical Laboratory Operations)

Salary: $202,329.60–$252,912 USD annually, plus performance bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Manage clinical laboratory and technical operations, including daily production, equipment and reagent qualification, training, and patient testing turnaround times.
• Develop policies, procedures, performance standards, and process improvements that strengthen quality and operational efficiency.
• Maintain and expand laboratory infrastructure, staffing, equipment, inventory, and other resources required to meet demand.
• Lead troubleshooting teams, operationalize new product launches, and resolve urgent laboratory issues.
• Recruit, retain, train, and develop laboratory and support staff while managing performance and fostering cross-department collaboration.
• Partner with senior leadership on short- and long-term laboratory strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in biological science or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in laboratory administration or a related field, including 5+ years of management and leadership experience.
• 5+ years of experience with high-complexity testing and high-volume laboratory operations.
• Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, California, and New York regulations, as well as clinical and public health laboratory laws.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma, troubleshooting, process improvement, workflow analysis, and data analysis using Excel or similar tools.
• California licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist or CGMBS credentials are preferred. GLP, GMP, or FDA experience is strongly preferred.
