Senior Manager - Carbon-Free Energy Project Manager

Nscale is scaling AI infrastructure across the United States and uses carbon-free energy and environmental strategy as key sustainability and commercial priorities.

What you will do

• Own the carbon-free energy strategy and roadmap across U.S. markets and site types.
• Originate, structure, negotiate, and close PPAs, virtual PPAs, utility green tariffs, sleeved supply agreements, and renewable energy certificate transactions.
• Build financial models covering price, basis, shape and volume risk, contract tenor, credit, and collateral requirements.
• Lead energy due diligence for site selection, including grid carbon intensity, clean energy supply, interconnection timelines, and regulatory barriers.
• Evaluate advanced nuclear, geothermal, storage, hydro, hydrogen, RNG, microgrids, and behind-the-meter generation.
• Lead water stewardship and operational emissions strategies while managing the team and engaging utilities, developers, regulators, executives, clients, and investors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy, environmental science, business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in sustainability, energy procurement, renewable project development, or energy markets.
• Experience negotiating or structuring PPAs, VPPAs, utility tariffs, or RECs.
• Working knowledge of U.S. power markets such as ERCOT, PJM, and MISO, utility regulation, transmission, interconnection, and REC markets.
• Experience with energy-deal financial modeling, price and volume analysis, development risk, and people or cross-functional program leadership.

Nice to have

• MBA or advanced degree in energy, environmental policy, or finance.
• Experience closing utility-scale clean energy deals or firm clean energy offtakes.
• Experience with hyperscalers, colocation providers, utilities, independent power producers, or energy advisory firms serving data center load.
• Knowledge of 24/7 carbon-free energy, hourly matching, granular certificates, carbon removal, and multi-state U.S. portfolios.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20%.
