Manager, Manufacturing & Test Engineering

Location: Albany, NY, United States; onsite manufacturing and production operations role.

Salary: $114,000–$185,250 per year.

What you will do

• Lead, develop, and retain a multidisciplinary team of test engineers, process engineers, manufacturing engineering technicians, and interns.
• Manage engineering support for the production floor, including ticketing, response expectations, escalation paths, KPIs, and backlog reporting.
• Own operating and capital budgets for process and test engineering, including forecasting and capital request justification.
• Develop and manage production test assets, test fixtures, instrumentation, calibration, measurement integrity, and test data analysis tools using LabVIEW and Python.
• Standardize test platforms, manufacturing documentation, work instructions, standard operating procedures, ERP routings, and bills of material.
• Lead continuous improvement, time studies, line balancing, capacity analysis, Lean and 5S implementation, corrective actions, and cross-functional new product introduction activities.

Requirements

• BS degree in Engineering or a STEM-related discipline.
• 7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including at least 3 years managing engineers and/or technicians.
• Experience with the full people-management cycle, including hiring, goal setting, performance management, coaching, and development.
• Hands-on experience with production test systems, test stands or fixtures, electronic instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Experience with engineering drawings, electrical schematics, P&IDs, process documentation, sensor and instrumentation selection, and troubleshooting electronic test hardware.
• Experience with manufacturing documentation, structured problem solving such as 8D, 5-Why, or DMAIC, and vendor or integrator management.
