TL;DR
Principal Specialist: Solutions Architect (Telecoms): Leading the design and assurance of complex end-to-end technology solutions for Vodacom Business across mobile, connectivity, cloud, cybersecurity, and IoT with an accent on scalability, resiliency, reusability, and cost management. Focus on defining architectural standards, solving complex delivery and live-service issues, and coordinating solution architecture teams, product architects, engineers, and project managers.
Location: Midrand, Vodacom Campus; Johannesburg, South Africa

What you will do
- Lead solution architects in identifying end-to-end functional requirements and shaping solution design approaches.
- Oversee complex multi-tower solutions aligned with business objectives, architecture standards, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Develop interconnected offers across mobile, fixed connectivity, cloud, and IoT to improve the customer experience.
- Define and enforce architectural frameworks, principles, guardrails, standards, and controls.
- Collaborate with product architects, product teams, engineering teams, and project managers on feature refinement and high-level delivery planning.
- Perform root-cause analysis, define options for complex issues, improve documentation and ways of working, and align architecture-team resources with demand.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in technology architecture and systems, including 3+ years of management experience.
- Extensive experience managing architecture teams and working with domain architecture and design.
- Strong knowledge of TOGAF, SD-WAN, MPLS, IP VPN, voice and mobile communication technologies, 5G, cloud, cybersecurity, managed services, unified communications, and IoT.
- Experience in telecoms/IT design, technical coordination, business development, change management, and customer relationship management.
- Fluent English and willingness to work from the South Africa-based role location are required.
