TL;DR
Senior Android Engineer (Kotlin/Sports Technology): Building a production Android application for sports tracking that captures media, coordinates devices, transfers data, and integrates computer vision components with an accent on reliability in real-world environments. Focus on designing resilient data pipelines, managing camera and device communication, integrating C++ through the Android NDK and JNI, and owning releases and observability.
Location: Hungary; UK candidates also considered. Hybrid model with two days per week in the office.

What you will do
- Own the architecture, implementation, quality, performance, and maintainability of the production Android application.
- Build camera and media capture features, including session management, recording, codecs, and local storage.
- Coordinate connected devices and edge units through communication, setup, synchronization, shared state, and failure recovery.
- Design resilient data and media transfer with prioritization, queuing, retries, background processing, and partial-failure handling.
- Integrate native C++ computer vision components through the Android NDK and JNI.
- Manage releases, testing tracks, remote configuration, signing, diagnostics, crash reporting, and observability.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of mobile application development experience, including substantial native Android development with Kotlin.
- Expert knowledge of Kotlin, Android architecture, camera and media systems, device-to-device communication, serialization, and resilient networking.
- Experience shipping applications through the full lifecycle, including architecture, release signing, Google Play submission, and store approval.
- Experience with Wi-Fi Direct, Protocol Buffers, background transfers, queuing, retries, and partial-failure handling.
- Comfort with mobile CI/CD, automated testing, Git, code reviews, Jira, web service integration, and API contracts.
- A software-related degree or equivalent practical experience, plus willingness to learn new technologies and platforms.
Nice to have
- Experience with real-time or latency-sensitive data delivery.
- Experience integrating native computer vision or machine learning components into Android applications.
- Experience coordinating multiple devices as one system.
- Knowledge of Kotlin Multiplatform and its potential use for iOS development.
