Junior Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

Location: Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina; hybrid work model combining in-person collaboration with remote work

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot team services for the email communication channel.
• Write well-designed, testable, scalable code following clean code principles.
• Take ownership of produced code and understand system-wide interactions and dependencies.
• Work across backend and frontend development, databases, system design, alerting, and monitoring.
• Participate in Scrum and LeSS practices, including sprint planning and retrospectives, with support from a Product Manager.
• Explore and integrate AI or LLM-based capabilities into product features where relevant.

Requirements

• Professional software engineering experience and a strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, RESTful services, and databases such as MSSQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience building applications with modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience with concurrent and multi-tier applications, code review, and software testing.
• Comfort with modern development approaches, including AI-assisted coding tools and agents.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, React, or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, or Canary.
• Experience designing caching strategies and using asynchronous communication tools such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Experience with Bash, Docker, Prometheus, monitoring, and observability.
• Readiness to adopt, implement, or propose new technologies.
