Research Fellow – School of Psychology (Psychological and Cultural Foundations of Music) (Auditory Perception): Designing and delivering citizen-science research on how people hear, perceive, and experience music with an accent on experimental design, participant engagement, and research data analysis. Focus on implementing auditory perception experiments, interpreting findings, contributing to academic publications, and supporting research ethics and project evaluation.
Location: Auckland City Campus, Auckland, New Zealand
Salary: NZ$99,788 per annum, pro-rated.

What you will do
- Design and implement citizen-science experiments focused on auditory perception.
- Recruit and engage research participants and collect, manage, and analyse research data.
- Interpret findings and contribute to academic publications, conferences, workshops, and other research outputs.
- Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and research team on project planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Contribute to related research opportunities, funding applications, research ethics, governance, and University requirements.
Requirements
- PhD in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
- Experience conducting research in cognitive science or a related field.
- Experience in experimental research and data analysis.
- Strong project management and academic writing skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience developing experiments with JavaScript, Python, or a related programming language, and analysing data with R, is advantageous.
Nice to have
- Experience supervising or coordinating research assistants.
- Experience working with older adults or people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.
- Experience using ecological momentary assessment methods.
