Director, Enterprise Security & IT (AI)

Location: Hybrid, based in Vancouver or Toronto, Canada. Office collaboration is expected on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Salary: CA$155K–CA$200K, plus equity options.

What you will do

• Build and lead a unified Security, Compliance, and IT function with a shared roadmap and operating model.
• Own security posture, incident response readiness, governance, and high-risk access controls.
• Lead SOC 2 Type II, NIST CSF, BSIMM, penetration testing, audit evidence, and compliance documentation.
• Manage customer and vendor security questionnaires, data protection agreements, security exhibits, vendor reviews, DLP, data retention, and privacy operations.
• Define AI security governance for tools, agents, integrations, data handling, permissions, and risk acceptance.
• Own employee devices, access, corporate tooling, IT vendors, SLOs, onboarding, offboarding, and the function's budget.

Requirements

• Experience running security and compliance for a company handling sensitive customer data.
• Experience leading company-wide IT operations covering equipment, access, and tooling.
• In-depth knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and CCPA.
• Experience negotiating data protection agreements and security exhibits in customer and vendor contracts.
• Understanding of AI security and governance, including data retention, access controls, permissions, and risk acceptance.
• Ability to build a new function in an ambiguous environment and communicate with technical and non-technical leaders.

Nice to have

• Experience owning a DevOps or security engineering function within a larger engineering organization.
• Experience unifying previously siloed security, compliance, and IT teams.
• Knowledge of privacy and data residency frameworks for international customers.
• Experience managing distributed or hybrid teams.
