TL;DR
Transformer Specialist (Power Transformers): Installing, testing, and commissioning 330 MVA, 165 MVA, and 60 MVA power transformers for the upgrade of five high-voltage substations in Nigeria with an accent on oil handling, OLTC systems, and OEM-compliant procedures. Focus on operating OMICRON testing equipment, coordinating HV and customer interfaces, documenting results, and supporting energization and final handover.

Location: Resident position in Onitsha, Anambra, Nigeria. The work is expected to take place in Nigeria, with the location subject to change according to project progress and needs.

What you will do

  • Represent the energy business during installation, testing, and commissioning of 330 MVA, 165 MVA, and 60 MVA power transformers.
  • Review installation and commissioning procedures, drawings, vendor documentation, project specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Supervise transformer receipt inspections, positioning, assembly, vacuum filling, oil filtration, and installation readiness.
  • Supervise electrical tests using OMICRON TESTRANO 600, CPC 100 with CP TD1, and FRANEO 800 where required.
  • Verify insulation, oil quality, cooling, OLTC, protection, alarms, and SCADA interfaces; record results and prepare commissioning reports.
  • Support SAT, customer inspections, energization, punch-list management, corrective actions, and final handover documentation.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in power transformer installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience with 330 MVA, 165 MVA, and 60 MVA transformers, including oil handling and OLTC systems.
  • Proven ability to operate OMICRON TESTRANO 600 and knowledge of CPC 100 with CP TD1 and FRANEO 800.
  • Knowledge of IEC 60076 and OEM procedures.
  • Relevant OEM training certificates are mandatory.
  • English is preferred.
