Hydrosat is a space and data analytics startup developing Earth Observation satellite capabilities and software based on thermal infrared imagery for environmental, agricultural, and water-security applications.

What you will do

  • Lead scientists developing models for crop water stress, evapotranspiration, and land-surface processes.
  • Drive innovation in biophysical modeling and produce robust, reproducible scientific outputs.
  • Design and validate algorithms for thermal data analysis and vegetation stress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with machine learning, engineering, and product teams to integrate scientific models into production systems.
  • Review scientific methodologies, architectures, and design decisions while defining objectives and tracking progress.
  • Mentor team members and support scientific hiring, onboarding, research proposals, publications, and conference presentations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, agronomy, physics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Earth Observation, remote sensing, or environmental modeling.
  • At least 2 years of technical leadership experience managing scientific or engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience processing geospatial and Earth Observation data with GDAL, Rasterio, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of land-surface modeling, soil–plant–atmosphere interactions, and vegetation indices.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or similar languages, plus experience working with software and data engineering teams.

Nice to have

  • PhD in environmental science, agronomy, physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud-based environments.
  • Peer-reviewed publications or applied research experience.
  • Familiarity with thermal infrared data.
