Retirement Plan Counselor (401k)

Location: Hybrid role based in Pasadena and northern Orange County, California; must reside within the assigned territory. This is not a 100% work-from-home position. Approximately 25% overnight travel to Northern California and Washington is required.

Base salary: $65,600–$92,675 per year, plus potential bonus or sales incentives depending on the position and individual performance.

What you will do

• Deliver one-on-one virtual and on-site group education and enrollment presentations for defined contribution plan participants.
• Drive measurable participant actions, including plan enrollment, deferral increases, and rollovers from previous plans.
• Build relationships with plan sponsors, key contacts, relationship managers, and internal stakeholders.
• Track meetings, attendees, outcomes, and service-level reporting in the required systems.
• Manage meeting schedules and travel bookings, attend client meetings, and provide feedback on communication strategies.
• Participate in finalist presentations for prospective clients when required by territory needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• 2–4 years of relevant financial services experience.
• Strong presentation, relationship-building, and territory-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 registrations within established timelines, plus FINRA fingerprinting.
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. Visa sponsorship, including CPT/OPT sponsorship, is not available.

• Working knowledge of Salesforce.
• Experience with consultative client interactions and defined contribution plans.
• Ability to calculate interest, proportions, percentages, and fractions.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to work independently.
