HV Circuit Breaker Specialist (132 kV and 330 kV): Installing, testing, commissioning, and documenting high-voltage circuit breakers for five upgraded electrical substations in Nigeria with an accent on AIS/GIS equipment, protection interfaces, and commissioning compliance. Focus on performing OMICRON-based testing, verifying control and SCADA integration, resolving defects, and supporting customer acceptance and energization.

Location: Onitsha, Anambra, Nigeria; work at substation sites in Nigeria, with the location subject to project progress and needs

The client is a leading energy company delivering a turnkey project to extend and upgrade five existing high-voltage electrical substations.

What you will do

  • Represent and supervise 132 kV and 330 kV circuit breaker installation, testing, commissioning, RFC, and energization activities.
  • Supervise circuit breaker assembly and readiness inspections in line with approved drawings, procedures, and OEM instructions.
  • Perform timing, contact resistance, operating mechanism, insulation, SF6, functional, interlock, alarm, and trip/close sequence tests.
  • Verify protection interfaces, SCADA signals, and control system integration with HV, protection and control, and customer teams.
  • Record test results, prepare commissioning reports and checklists, manage punch lists, and support corrective actions.
  • Support SAT, customer inspections, energization, final handover documentation, and as-built records while ensuring HSE and QA/QC compliance.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in HV circuit breaker installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience with 132 kV and 330 kV AIS/GIS circuit breakers.
  • Proven ability to operate OMICRON CIBANO 500, CMC 356, and CMC 256 testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of HV circuit breaker mechanisms, applicable testing methods, IEC standards, and OEM procedures.
  • Relevant training certificates are mandatory.
  • English is mandatory; the assignment requires work at Nigerian substation sites.
