Senior Systems Engineer (MCP)

Estimated annual salary for Bay Area-based hires: €66,000–€91,000. Compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate globally distributed MCP Portal services connecting AI agents and MCP clients to authorized upstream tools.
• Own features from problem definition and architecture through implementation, rollout, observability, and production support.
• Design authentication and authorization flows involving hirify.global Access, OAuth, identity, credentials, and delegated access.
• Improve the reliability, scalability, and observability of multi-tenant systems on the hirify.global Developer Platform.
• Investigate complex customer issues, identify root causes, and drive durable fixes across services and teams.
• Review designs and code, mentor engineers, and improve testing, deployment, and operational practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems, backend services, network services, or infrastructure products in production.
• Experience owning complex production services or projects across architecture, implementation, rollout, and operations.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Rust, C++, or another language used for production services.
• Deep understanding of HTTP, APIs, proxies, streaming connections, and distributed-systems failure modes.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWTs, PKCE, policy-based access control, and security-sensitive systems.
• Ability to diagnose production issues using logs, metrics, traces, and customer evidence, while communicating tradeoffs and mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Model Context Protocol.
• Familiarity with the hirify.global Developer Platform or other serverless edge-computing platforms.
• Experience with gateways, forward proxies, identity systems, developer platforms, Zero Trust, or data loss prevention products.
