Localization Technical Program Manager (AI)

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Hybrid work is required for candidates within commuting distance of an hirify.global office, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. Candidates outside an office area may be considered for remote work.

Salary: CAD 115,000–149,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and implement internationalization solutions covering string externalization, resource architecture, Unicode, locale-aware behavior, pluralization, regional formats, and RTL support.
• Own Phrase or a comparable Translation Management System, including projects, workflows, translation memories, termbases, quality controls, permissions, automation, and governance.
• Build and troubleshoot TMS APIs and integrations with product repositories, content systems, source control, and delivery pipelines.
• Serve as technical product owner for hirify.global’s AI-enabled translation platform, defining its roadmap, architecture, capabilities, and integration strategy.
• Lead localization technical programs from planning through release, coordinating Product, Engineering, UX/UI, Localization, and Localization Testing.
• Support pseudo-localization, functional validation, defect triage, release readiness, workflow automation, documentation, and technical enablement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in internationalization engineering, localization engineering, localization technology, or a related discipline.
• Deep knowledge of i18n fundamentals, including Unicode, pluralization, date/number/currency formatting, RTL support, and placeholder or markup protection.
• Hands-on experience administering Phrase or a comparable TMS and supporting localization APIs and integrations.
• Experience with AI-enabled products and workflows, including LLM or machine translation integrations, prompt design, API orchestration, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop quality controls.
• Availability for substantial working-hours overlap with hirify.global’s core Product and Engineering teams and timely support during releases.

Nice to have

• Fluency in a second language such as German, Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, or another language supporting global collaboration.
• Experience with JSON, XML, XLIFF, ICU MessageFormat, REST APIs, webhooks, source control, and CI/CD.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, APIs, or scripting to prototype solutions and automate workflows.
• Experience using i18n or localization quality metrics to diagnose trends and guide improvements.
